The FBI is investigating the shooting of two Israeli Embassy aides<\/a> outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night as an \u201cact of terror,\u201d according to law enforcement.<\/p>\n FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said in a statement Thursday morning the incident has the \u201cfull attention<\/a>\u201d of the bureau and pledged to pursue harsh penalties in the case, which he suggested could be an act of antisemitic violence.<\/p>\n \u201cLast night\u2019s act of terror has the full attention of your FBI,\u201d Bongino wrote on the social platform X.<\/p>\n \u201cTargeted acts of anti-Semitic violence are typically carried out by spineless, gutless cowards,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd the penalties will be harsh as we tighten up this investigation and run down any additional leads.\u201d<\/p>\n Shortly after 9 p.m. EDT, a suspect identified as Elias Rodriguez, of Chicago, approached a group of four individuals leaving an event at the museum and fired at close range. Two staffers, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, were killed<\/a> in the shooting.<\/p>\n The suspect later walked into the museum and was apprehended. After he was in custody, he shouted, \u201cFree, free Palestine,\u201d Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith said at a news conference.<\/p>\n President Trump and other members<\/a> of his Cabinet have condemned the killings<\/a> as antisemitic attacks.<\/p>\n
